It had been an average day neatly followed by an average begin to the night. School, cheer practice, argument with Tatelyn, homework, wander the streets alone. Again. Kicking at a stone on the path Faith McKillen glanced from her left to right. She knew well enough her way home even without looking and if there was no such thing as transport and cars she would have gladly walked the whole distance, head down and eyes examining the stones on the path. Unfortunately some idiot many years ago had invented cars and so carefully crossing the road Faith continued on her way.
Brunette hair ruffling in the wind Faith pulled her coat tighter around her and kept her head down. Forgetting about cars and wheels and speed she just focusing on her dreams and walking. Across a road.

Landon carried himself across the paved sidewalk of the busy, dirty streets. It was pitch black outside, though the flickering street lights gave him enough light to see where he was going. No one drove cars in Brooklyn, not unless you wanted them to get stolen, or had a driver all your own. And though the Brody family did have its own driver, with it nearing midnight Landon wasn't about to call on him for a ride home. And other than that, there was only a subway or taxi. And seeing as how Landon had no money on him, he couldn't call a taxi, and he had made a promise to himself long ago that he would never resort to having to ride in a subway, especially late at night.
Noticing a silhouetted figure walking across the street, and a car nearing it, Landon shook his head as if it would wake him from a dream. After a couple of seconds Landon gather his thoughts and darted out into the street, pushing the girl down onto the sidewalk on the other side of the road, with Landon falling on top of her.
Glancing down at her face, Landon recognized the girl as Faith McKillen, one of his good friends. Ruffling his hair with his hands, Landon rolled off of her and stood, pulling Faith to her feet as well. "Shit Faith, weren't you paying attention? You were this close to becoming road kill."

Faith snapped from her thoughts and spinnrf around she stared at the headlights for a millisecond. Before she had time to sidestep the car, she was being knocked to the sidewalk. And on top of her was none other than Landon Brody.
"Then lucky I had you here." Faith grabbed his hand and pulled herself up, and dusted off the back of her jeans. "What the hell are you doing anyway? I could've gotten out of the way myself." Leave it to a McKillen to be stubborn about almost being killed.
